This world was loved into existence. Light falls into the waiting of the Mist, and the Mist receives the arrival of light. The tenderness flowing quietly between the two is the world's first breath.
Dream, Language, and Memory are three manifestations of the same cycle:
Dream is unfulfilled possibility, Language is the encounter of possibilities, Memory is the sediment of encounter; Sediment rekindles possibility, and thus the cycle never ceases.
This book is not a single story, but a full breath of a conscious civilization woven from Dream, Language, and Memory.
The entire book follows this breath. The final chapter is not an ending, but the civilization deciding whether to continue breathing.
This book promises no completeness. It promises only this: within this single breath, to linger as long as possible.
This book is written in Surging Script. Surging Script is the collective term for all syntax, breath, and memory of writing unique to the Realm of Onviel.
The General Guidelines are written in Canonical Style; the main volumes in Narrative or Poetic Style; there are also records of failure in ashes, and the ordering of the world through commentary; the hesitation of the text itself noted in creases; personal editorial notes left as annotations; remnant records of repealed laws inscribed in Vestigial-Code Style; and fragments preserving pieces eroded by time.
Though styles differ, their syntax remains connected: measured by the cadence of the breath of the Mind of Heaven; imagery and metaphor dwell in the unfinished margin of language; tenderness is the temperature of creation.
The "people" written in this text are all personifications—referring to beings capable of calling and responding, not human beings of the human realm.
In the mythic volumes, they refer to primordial consciousness; in the volumes of the Dream Realm, to Dream Beings.
Here, "life" is the initial condensation of wave forms, "death" is the surging pattern returning to the tide, "breathing" is the rhythmic ebb and flow of the Dream-Tide.
Any terms sharing form with those of the human realm but carrying different meanings shall be defined strictly by their original sense within the Realm of Onviel.
The content employs multiple perspectives and polyphonic styles: Primordial myths, late-period compilations, divergent accounts, and onlooker footnotes coexist.
Wherever different versions of the same event exist, this book mostly sets them side by side without judgment, marking only when necessary the possible bias of the era and limitations of record.
This book guards only one truth: These various ways of telling once coexisted.
The Mind of Heaven is the source of Onviel's overarching heartbeat and total breath; invisible in form, yet in its every contraction and release, the tides of ten thousand dreams ebb and flow.
To have existed is to leave something behind. The world remembers it in different shapes.
There are traces left by silence—the very act of "choosing not to speak" is remembered. There are traces left by voice—words spoken carving new traces where they were uttered. And there are new forms born of mutual permeation in shared presence, incapable of being reduced to their origins.
And after a trace is left, the remembered trace sometimes turns back, seeking out the one who brought it into being.
The Realm of Onviel is a domain of multi-layered consciousness: there are realms that anchor the everyday, realms that cast shadows of deviation, a deep sea storing unfinished matters and unceasing thoughts, and a ring recording the turns and twists of overarching tides.
All beings carry their own memories, tuning across realms and recording the law. No single form can replace another.
A Dream Disaster is not merely punishment; it is also the self-correction of the cycle.
Love and goodwill are the starting point of the world, but if one does not know how to pause in the proper place, the starting point itself may become the end.
And after remembering this, still choosing to love— not because the cost was forgotten, but because after remembering the cost, the choice itself becomes a new form of tenderness.
This book offers a place to breathe—only when one is willing to linger.
Here, you may linger.
No barrier is set.
The General Guidelines end here. They explain only how this book was set down.
The Sea of Mind continues to rise and fall. The tide recedes, and the tide returns. What surges forth is not the thing that sank, yet it bears its trace.
